Set and Costume Design
This course will be delivered by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Design Lecturers and will take place in the newly opened Speirs Locks Studios.
The course consists of practical and theoretical teaching in set and costume design. Students will be set projects applying this knowledge and will work towards a presentation on the final day of the course. This may provide students with evidence for portfolio building as well as an opportunity to present the product of the projects work to others.
The course will provide a fun, supportive and challenging environment in which all students from beginners to advanced can explore and learn.

This 10-day course is aimed at anyone aged 16 plus who is interested in developing skills in set and costume design. It may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in this field.
By the end of the course students should have:
• developed an awareness of the design process from initial idea through to production
• worked with experienced industry professionals to develop and expand specialist skills
• gained greater insight into how design works within the context of the performing arts
• participated in a collaborative practical project culminating in a presentation
