Today, there is a strong focus on International Public Health advocated by UN, WHO, EU. There is also an increasing demand for professionals in arenas of health promotion and disease prevention. Many determinants of health have been revealed within societal and environmental conditions. The slogan “Health is Wealth” is often heard. “Wealth” is the most important determinants of “Health”. Reducing inequality and improving environmental conditions is a universal responsibility.

HiOA is now offering a summer-school in International Public Health, to contribute to a better understanding of public health in a globalised world in an inter-disciplinary and inter-cultural perspective. The aim of the course is to broaden the knowledge of professionals, within the field of International Public Health, and others interested in the subject. The course has two parts:

1. The Scope of International Public Health
2. Environmental Conditions and Family Health

International Public Health is a 10ECTS course. Students must do 3-4 weeks of preparation and 3 weeks presence in Oslo.
