Exhibition-making and the Multiplicity of Artistic Languages

blended course
when 18 July 2022 - 30 July 2022
language English
duration 2 weeks
fee EUR 640

This course is part of the International Summer Academy Salzburg 2022.

This course is built around the premise that exhibition-making is a distinct method of generating meaning. We will share our experiences, working primarily within Asia-Pacific and Latin American contexts. We will visit conversations in these localities that provide perspectives on creating common platforms for exhibiting the multiple lineages of artistic language which form our contemporary moment, as well as the political underpinnings of this process. Together we will also look at the potential of speculative art historiography, as well as that of scenographies, visual staging, and various performative and operatic strategies in curating exhibitions.

Course leader

Cosmin Costinaş & Inti Guerrero

Target group

Open to anyone interested in fine arts (focus Art / Community, Art / Research / Curating, Theory / Praxis)

Course aim

Throughout the years we have developed a collaborative curatorial practice that is working trans-regionally and trans-historically, reassessing objects, practices, and the borders of exclusion imposed around artistic practice, equally favouring the politics at the core of these processes and the aesthetic universes celebrated when colonial artistic cannons are dissolved.
