Transitions – Drawing and Space

when 8 July 2024 - 12 July 2024
language English
duration 1 week
credits 1 EC
fee EUR 520

This drawing workshop explores transitional spaces of urban Berlin and experiments with the drawing process in an open and interpretative manner. The city in all its diversity will be the stage and subject of our artistic research. The emphasis will be put on practical artistic work in combination with critical discourse.

During the introduction we will exchange various ideas on transit spaces and the drawing process. Transitions between inside and outside, between here and there, in the actual urban world and in mental space - where interspaces, movements, traces, borders and their exceedances matter.

We will then in mutual exchange agree on the way we want to deal with the subject and which places to work with. From our starting point at the Berlin University of the Arts we will explore the city and the urban space. We will begin in the neighborhood and expand the circle day by day in our search for spaces of transition.

The working periods will be combined with studio visits of Berlin based artists and/or exhibition visits.
