Architecture, Between the Sea and the Sky
From July 14 to August 9 2014, we will be holding a special summer camp. A month-long affair starting (online) on July 14 and then moving to offline fun from August 4 to August 9. Indeed, in the ancient Sicilian city of Syracuse, old and new friends will be meeting and coming together for an ambitious project: the building of our very own architecture.
We will make architecture, hence we will make space.
A very special space: between the land and the sea, but at the same time between the sea and the sky. Let’s say: between the land and the sea. Below the sky.
Architecture as a tool to convert a place into a state of mind.
Stefano Mirti, Francesco Librizzi
The summer camp will explore the theme of space perception through the senses. For this, we will start making things, physical things... experiments that we will iterate many, many times.
The objective of the camp is to investigate the idea of craft. As the three-month Design 101 course was about learning by doing things, the summer camp will be about how do we carry out the making of these things. In other words, how do we craft architecture.
We will give you a certificate with the hours you completed (online and offline). In some cases, these hours can be converted into 2 ECTs credits. Please ask your school’s administration for more information.
EUR 450: The online part is completely free.
For the offline part, however, there is an enrolment fee of 450 euro.
You were enrolled in Design 101? For you, the fee is of 350 euro.
Please note that we will have another summer camp going on (in Sicily as well) from July 19 to August 3. The theme is “Community Design” and the camp's cost is 850 euro.
You can enrol to both camps (Community Design + Architecture, between the sea and the sky) for 800 euro.
We have two grants of 450 euros to give away!
To apply for a grant, please send an email to Gino (firstname.lastname@example.org) before June 20, 2014 with the following documents:
