Creativity and Entrepreneurship in Technology-Driven Innovation
This course provides a solid introduction to the entrepreneurial dimensions of technology-driven social and service innovation in the creative industries. You will study theories and crossover practices that demonstrate the value of creative thinking and entrepreneurial behaviour in the games, media, animation and interaction sectors. You will create a start-up team to turn your idea into a creative business model and plan with the help of presentations and talks from successful Dutch SME entrepreneurs. The course also links into a new European H2020 project and you can pitch your ideas to a jury of international investors.
Would you like to start your innovative (tech) company in the creative industry? Work on a successful start-up with a team of fellow students? Enroll in this Summer School to gain a solid and hands-on introduction to the entrepreneurial dimensions of technology driven innovation in the creative industries. You will study theories and practices that demonstrate the value of creative thinking, innovation and entrepreneurial behaviour in the creative industry, such as the gaming and interaction industry. The goal of the Summer School is to start and support fresh entrepreneurial teams in the creative industry who combine technological development and creativity to influence social change and innovation.
To that end, the principles of creativity and entrepreneurship will be addressed in a practical manner. At start of the Summer School, you will form a startup team - possibly also with international students - with whom you will work on your business idea.
For this startup, you will study topics like business model generation, social innovation, service innovation, business planning, design thinking, ICT and entrepreneurship theory. You will create a business plan, set up your company and study other creative businesses. You will get mentoring and coaching from international experts for the startup team to improve your business idea and entrepreneurial skills. At the end of the Summer School, you will pitch your business idea with your team to a jury during Presentation Day. The best startups will win a trip to Milan to pitch for an international jury of investors and win a prize! You will also have the opportunity to return to the next Summer Schools of 2016 and 2017 to improve even further, grow your international network and get more coaching and mentoring on your business.
During the Summer School, successful start-ups and (tech) enterprises from the creative industries in the Netherlands will attend and talks with their founders are included in the course.
This course is part of the new pan European CREA Summer Academy project funded under the Horizon 2020 programme.
