The theme of the summer course involves a variety of disciplines, integrating topics such as sustainable tourism, visitor management, heritage interpretation, product innovations, creativity and networking in rural tourism, event management, experiencing local culinary heritage, etc.

The aim of the course is to provide an overview and understanding of the principles and guidelines necessary for developing tourism experiences appropriate for the locality of place. Excursions to local heritage attractions and tourism providers and suppliers will help to understand how the local tourist supply chain functions and to perceive the multi-facets and complexity of rural and cultural heritage tourism provision.

Tourism, Business and Cultural History students of different cycles (levels); rural tourism entrepreneurs or people employed /interested in rural tourism development

Course aim

To give an overview of the concept and principles of Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Rural Tourism as well as of creative and innovative application of nature and cultural heritage in rural tourism. To facilitate and support developing of a nature and environment-friendly and sustainable attitude in learners by combining academic learning with fieldwork. To motivate learners to follow the principles of sustainable tourism in their professional work.
