Study Religion in Oxford

when 24 July 2016 - 6 August 2016
duration 2 weeks
fee GBP 3449

Our course in religious studies equips you with all the tools to think critically about the different Abrahamic religions, whilst deepening your knowledge of them. There is scope to look at the various strands of Christianity around the world, as well as Islam and Judaism. You will consider the theological questions, issues and disagreements within these faiths, and will be encouraged to compare and contrast their features.

The course offers ample opportunities for specialisation within one religion in a tutorial setting, whilst comparisons and contrasts with other religions will be drawn through your classes, which will concentrate on the nature of the other faiths offered as part of the course.

Our course is taught by world-leading experts in the field of Theology, and will be taught through the tutorial method (see below).

UNITS

As part of this course you will be required to indicate a preference for which of the Abrahamic religions you wish to focus on within your tutorials. When you are put in contact with your tutor before the course, you may provide a specific area of the faith which you wish the tutorials to concentrate on; we will do our best to accommodate all requests.

Unit 1: Christianity
Unit 2: Islam
Unit 3: Judaism

There is considerable scope for specialisation within each Unit, and they are not meant to be rigid; students are encouraged to look outside their chosen religion of focus and make comparisons across the course. This will be facilitated by the classes, which will tackle the various religions throughout the course.
