Special Needs Education
The course provides knowledge of and serves as a forum for discussion of children’s rights, barriers to learning, development and participation that may be the result of various environmental factors, disabilities and other causes. Emphasis will be on the enrichment brought about by learner-centered approaches towards quality education for all in inclusive classes and communities, the importance of partnership with parents and the need for resource services. The Norwegian educational framework, together with the students’ own backgrounds and experiences provide a basis for discussion.
This course is offered in cooperation with the Department of Special Needs Education (DSNE) at the University of Oslo.
The main objective of the course is to develop insight into and competency in learner-centered education in inclusive environments, at home, at school and in society at large.
