ISP/Orient is a six days summer school in Oriental philosophy.

The school will include cultural evenings where you will have the chance to taste some local produce, enjoy musical performances, and discuss the current Middle East situation with renowned experts.

Course leader

Anne Cheng,
Mark Dyczkowski,
Svevo D'Onofrio,
Richard Gombrich,
Charles Malamoud,
and Massimo Raveri.

Target group

ISP-Orient is open to academics and non-academics who seek a broad – but not superficial – approach to Oriental philosophy.

Course aim

The course will overcome the boundaries of specialisation by crossing different discourses: from the Vedic texts to Tantrism, from Early Buddhism to Zen Buddhism, from Chinese thought to the interaction between Islamic and Hindu mysticism.

In all seminars, the six prominent speakers will focus on the philosophical ideas which ground each of the aforementioned traditions.

Each of them will hold three seminars over three days (each seminar will be two hours long, including discussion).
