At Nottingham Trent University our summer courses are delivered by experts who bring academic and industry experience to their subject. You can obtain 2.5 ECTS for each week of study you successfully complete. Our art and design subjects are:

> 3D Animation (two weeks) - this course combines an introduction to the creative and technical aspects of 3D animation with information about today’s animation industry. On the course you will combine new idea generation and research skills with your knowledge of Maya software so that, by the end of the two weeks, you will have a character to present to your fellow students.

> Fashion Knitwear (three weeks) - you'll be working in one of the UK's most famous knitwear departments. This practical course combines the two interconnected disciplines of fashion and textiles through the medium of knitted fabric design. Participants should be interested in creating the knitted fabric and exploring its potential within a fashion garment. You will experience industry-level resources, explore design processes, extend your portfolio and create some amazing new work.

> Fashion Photography (one week) - both in the studio and on location, you'll develop your technical photography skills and complement them with an understanding of contemporary fashion photography and its context within modern society. At the end you'll have a portfolio of images you can show magazines or designers in the future, as well as an understanding of how to plan a fashion shoot and work as part of a team.

> Photography and Architecture (one week) - this will appeal to anyone interested in the urban environment, and Nottingham is a rich source of inspiration and architectural styles. You will explore urban spaces old and new, inside and out, as well as green spaces where architecture and nature meet. You will investigate how people interact with the urban environment and how to capture a
moment in time.

> Photography and the Alchemy of the Darkroom (one week) - this course begins by refreshing your knowledge of digital photography as well as improving your awareness of contemporary photography at a local, national and international level. You will then combine your camera skills with the alchemy of Victorian salt printing, a darkroom technique still being used today by artists and designers.

> Photography and the Artists' Book (one week) - on this practical course you will learn how to make a selection of handmade books to exhibit your own digital photography. You will also improve your awareness of contemporary image making at a local, national and international level.

You might also want to mix and match courses from other disciplines, including Architecture, Journalism, Business, Law, Education, English as a foreign language, Social Sciences and Science and Technology.

The courses will broaden your skills and knowledge and introduce you to new ways of thinking, and you'll also learn more about Nottingham and NTU as contemporary places to live and study.

NTU is right in the heart of England, with London, the coast and all the major attractions within easy reach. We provide you with a real experience of living and learning in the UK, in a city famous for the tales of Robin Hood.
