Financial resources are fundamental to business development and this course identifies the principles behind the management of these resources. As students assess the relevance of the financial framework, they also develop an awareness of the need for financial information. The course therefore brings together the two pillars of finance theory and finance techniques in a global context. The course will give an overview of financial management, and the financial environment within which decisions are made. The course will also introduce foreign exchange markets, international capital markets, international corporate finance and foreign currency derivatives. Students who have interest in financial theory in a global context would benefit from this course.
The course includes a session on the use of DataStream database and a visit by guest speaker Dr. Bill Kallinterakis, a prominent academic in the field of corporate finance, from University of Liverpool.
This will be based upon an individual written report, plus a group presentation on one of the topics taught in the course.
As with all GCU International Summer School courses, participants will experience a comprehensive social programme consisting of various events and excursions, showcasing the best of Glasgow and Scotland as both study and tourist destinations.
