The course is designed for practising artists who wish to develop their own personal and professional practice in a world-leading fine art context. Located in the Royal College of Art’s purpose-built Sackler Building studios, the studio residency will provide a lively forum for learning, debate and practical skills in a collaborative atmosphere, as well as the opportunity to gain personal, one-to-one support and advice from our faculty of experts.

Target group

This summer intensive will suit a range of artists involved in contemporary art practice including in the expanding fields of moving image, performance, public sphere, image and language, painting, photography, sculpture and print, who have enthusiasm and ambition for the development of their practice in a world-leading context. These might include practitioners eager to find new avenues for their work, or those keen to expose their work to a new context and new audiences.

Course aim

-Direct support of the development of the participant’s work.
-An introduction to the London art world through accompanied field trips to museums and galleries.
-The opportunity to meet and converse with the people setting the agenda for contemporary art in the city and beyond.
