Academic English with Focus on Academic Writing and Conference Presentation Skills
Looking to participate effectively in the international English academic community?
Success in research is based on the development of a particular academic skill set. Language at university is more formal, more complex and more objective than everyday language. It is important for researchers to prepare themselves well if they want to take a masters or doctoral degree in English. This 3- week winter school focuses on the production of clear and logical academic writing and conference presentation. The course helps researchers to write according to international academic conventions and present their research results with confidence. Writing activities develop academic style, grammar and lexis skills and emphasise higher-level research projects, including abstracts. Oral presentation activities centre on conference preparation tools, voice control, designing effective visual aids, judging one’s audience, improving pronunciation of key terms, and performance evaluation. Researchers from all disciplines will benefit and are welcome.
