Behind the Scenes and Screens: London and Edinburgh
Studying in both Edinburgh and London will give you exclusive access to one of the world’s premiere film festivals and some of London’s most famous theatres. This course will introduce you to central concepts of film including criticism, theory, and philosophy.
You will attend the Edinburgh International Film Festival, combining with local students on the Open Studies course 'An Insight into the Edinburgh International Film Festival’. With your Student Delegate Pass, you can attend a huge range of events, beginning with the Opening Night Gala. In London you will have opportunity to see theory in practice as you go on backstage tours and visits to some of London’s most famous venues, such as the Royal National Theatre and Shakespeare's Globe.

By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Understand stylistic and thematic developments in contemporary cinema
- Be conversant with some major approaches to film criticism, journalism, philosophy and theory
- Analyse individual films using particular theoretical approaches
-Produce a film review and write critically about film in an academic tone
