Practical Photography

when 8 August 2017 - 25 August 2017
language English
duration 3 weeks
fee GBP 1595

Develop your photography skills as well as your confidence in our highly practical photography summer course.

Working in our industry-standard studios or out on location, you will take part in a series of workshops, tutorials and photography shoots designed to increase your confidence and knowledge of photography processes, as well as developing your practical photographic skills.

You will be guided through the fundamentals of photography including camera controls, image composition, depth-of-field and working with light. You will explore creative techniques in photography to gain a greater understanding of how to ‘tell a story’ through your photographs and be encouraged to explore your photographic style. You will also consider ethical, social and cultural issues related to photography to further inform your own photographic journey.

You will take part in a variety of studio shoots including still life, portraiture and commercial – there will also be a series of location shoots in and around Bournemouth, providing the perfect opportunity to capture some of the most impressive coastlines and landscapes in the area, as well as exploring urban photography. Our expert tutors will guide you through studio set-up showing you how to use lighting and studio photography equipment safely and effectively.

Post-production workshops will increase your knowledge of photography processes and editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. There will also be the opportunity to professionally print a selection of your images taken during the course to add to your portfolio or for future development.
