This three-week course explores the different subject areas of acting Shakespeare through a range of disciplines, turning you from a drama student into a drama thinker. At the heart of Acting Shakespeare at Drama Centre London is performance, a complex process of decision making and problem solving that calls for an interaction between conscious and unconscious activity, intuition and skill. You will tackle acting, voice, body focussed lessons and learn singing, dance and stage fighting skills, all the time working with actual tutors from Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins.
This course is for students studying Drama or Theatre Studies to immerse themselves in a new and exciting programme for performing Shakespeare at Drama Centre London, one of the most renowned Drama Schools in the UK, part of Central Saint Martins.
The course will enable you to improve your skills for Shakespeare using a methodological approach, culminating in a performance based on Shakespearian text.
Workshops in Singing, Dance, Movement, Vocal Studies and Stage Combat will form part of your studies to give you a hugely rewarding and intensive experience with the Drama Centre.
The course tutors will work with you to enhance your capacity to learn in a disciplined, organised manner and develop skills leading to independent learning. You will also develop a critical awareness of contemporary performance and will learn to express your ideas clearly and articulately.
To support your learning experience you will be brought to a number performances at the RSC, the Globe and other world famous London theatres. During the course there is a theatre trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, a beautiful medieval town and birthplace of William Shakespeare.
