Cosmic physics joins many modern scientific branches. It includes geophysics, space physics, theoretical physics and applied science. In broader sense it studies the interactions of the Earth's interior and surface, the seas, the atmosphere an the outer space. This workshop is for those who like physics and want to find ways to learn what is happening above or beneath us. We will try to understand methods of today's science, see the beauty of learning and discovering in science and understand what can possibly be done in the time of your life in the field of nature and space exploration. We will discuss, invent, compute and dream.
The course will cover following topics: What is the outer space and where it begins: The atmosphere, magnetosphere. What do we know about Earth's interior and about other planets? Structure of the known Universe, gravity waves. Solar System. What is plasma, solar wind and solar cycles? Kristian Birkeland. How are Auroras formed and how are they related to Space Weather and why should we care about all this stuff. From Sputnik and Venera to Apollo, Voyager and New Horizon. New challenges for humanity and when will we colonize Mars?

Fee info

EUR 230: "I want to pay the full cost of the Discover experience. It includes the costs during the academy (accommodation, food, materials), travel costs for tutors, marketing, administration and preparatory meetings. Without these expenses, we wouldn't be able to offer a diverse range of high quality courses.
EUR 170: "I prefer to pay only the costs during the academy: accomodation, food and materials."

Scholarships

We understand that people in different countries, and different people within each country, have very different ability to pay the participation fee. We, therefore, expect to offer partial scholarships to up to 80% of participants.
