About

The Orthopaedics and Trauma Summer School is an English-taught, 5-day educational program with a focus on Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Sports Medicine. The week consists of both an educational and social program. The summer school will be hosted by the University Medical Center Groningen and the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands.

The educational programme will consist of interactive lectures taught by experienced professors, researchers and medical doctors. Workshops will expand upon the lectures and will provide you with hands-on experience in understanding musculoskeletal anatomy and Orthopaedic surgical techniques. The main themes of our programme are:

• Joint wear and replacement and ligament injuries

• Bone fractures and surgical repair

• Sports injuries and rehabilitation

During the course there will be room for social activities. Join us for a barbecue in the Noorderplantsoen park, a boat tour through the canals of Groningen or explore the varied nightlife throughout the city. You will get to know the other international participants both inside and outside the hospital. We will share lovely meals in the city center and experience Dutch culture at its finest.

At the end of the course, participants will be rewarded with a certificate justifying their attendance and participation.

Target group

This course is for bachelor-/master-/postgraduates from the fields of medicine, biomedical sciences, biomedical technology, movement sciences, physical therapy or any related study field.
We are looking for highly motivated participants who are interested in movement (disorders), specifically the fields of orthopaedics, trauma surgery and sports medicine to participate in our summer school.
