As the world faces multiple conflicts and escalating challenges, the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development sets out a plan for peace and prosperity. It is clear that in order to end poverty, reduce inequity, promote economic growth and take climate actions, we need access to equitable education.

Glasgow, through its complex history and vibrant present has shown how to successfully transform lives through educational intervention. From global policies discussed at the COP26, to local initiatives for designing art interventions for peace education, researchers and educators in this thriving city have responded to challenges impacting upon the lives of children, people and communities.

During this summer school you will get a chance to explore how educators are responding to global challenges facing the world in the 21st century. You will learn by example from projects led by the School of Education that address issues of diversity, equality, health and wellbeing and social justice

Course aim

This course will provide students with opportunities to:

- Examine in detail the multiple challenges facing educators across the globe.
- Demonstrate awareness of the thinking and theory behind educational interventions that present solutions to
these issues.

Embedded within this course will be opportunities to:

- Examine and critique case studies of successful interventions.
- Critically reflect on how they could respond to such issues at a local level
