TRANSNATIONAL ASPECTS OF LAW

language English
duration 1 week

fee EUR 510

Globalisation characterised by an increased mobility of individuals and companies as well as the internationalisation of business relations poses a challenge for national legislation and judicial practice. Traditional approaches must be adapted to the reality of globalisation. The range of transnational legal issues is extremely wide: public and private law questions are often intertwined, and they require the knowledge of the law and language of various states. The 2019 ELTE Summer School on the transnational aspects of law intends to give an insight for students with various background to legal problems involving different jurisdictions and laws. The programme addresses topics, such as international contracts, the settlement of international commercial disputes by courts and arbitral tribunals and the international dimensions of criminal law. The implications of national law, EU law and public international law on international legal relations will be mapped. The courses put special emphasis on a practical approach based on case solving.

The academic staff of the programme includes lecturers from the Faculty of Law, ELTE, who are experts of the respective fields, and all of whom have considerable international experience in teaching and research.

The classes start each day at 9:00 and end at 15:00, after that socio-cultural programs take place.
