UMCS Summer School "Transnationalism in Practice" is organised by Political Science Faculty, Marie Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland. School provides a forum to discuss phenomena of transnationality in the contemporary globalising and integrating world with special focus on the process of internationalisation of such non-state actors as cities, local communities and regions, NGOs and civil society.

Summer School 2018 course will focus on CITIES AS TRANSNATIONAL ACTORS. Participants will look at trends of growing participation of cities in international relations , modern urban centres involvement in contemporary transnational cooperation and global exchange, their multilateral and bilateral cooperation in such fields as culture, economy, technology, social policies. The program of the Summer School includes academic lectures, seminars and discussions as well as workshops, study visits, case studies of good practices in actual transnational cooperation projects.

Target group

Summer School invites students and young researchers (doctoral students) interested in theoretical and practical aspects of transnational cooperation of non-state actors. Participants from fields of political science, international relations, social sciences, urban studies are especially encouraged. We are also looking forward to participants who are young leaders and activists of non-governmental organisations and civil society, young local governments employees focusing in their work, studies and/or research on transnational and international activities of towns and cities worldwide.

Certificates of participation will be issued to all participants. Summer School awards 4 ECTS (requirement to participate in all school lectures and seminars and complete the projects)

Fee info

EUR 200: Summer School fee covers 10 days accommodation in UMCS Students Dorms (double occupancy rooms), lunches, all lectures and other academic activities, learning materials, study visits , some social and cultural events, certificates of participation

Scholarships

Limited number of fee stipends available for students from Eastern Partnership countries. Students of UMCS and other higher education institutions in Lublin should contact orgnanisers about possible participation with lowered fee.
