#6 Design and build with ØKM (Local and Recycled materials)

when 4 June 2018 - 29 June 2018
language English
duration 4 weeks
credits 1 EC
fee EUR 650

The workshop organized by ARCò Architecture and Cooperation is the sixth in the cycle BIØN (Building Impact Zero Network), which will take place from 4th to 29 th June in Casa Chiaravalle in Milan, a place confiscated from the organized crime that will become a reception centre for immigrants.
The workshop will be a four-week training and a hands-on experience. A balanced process between theory and practice will approach in detail the different local and recycled materials and the earthships and earthbags techniques. Through these techniques participants will learn how to use natural and recycled materials to create a 1:1 scale prototype for the development of new functions of the local community.
Working days are from Monday to Friday. During the weekends, an additional non-mandatory program of lectures and field trips will be proposed. The complete course is divided in 4 weeks (40 working hours per week). Partecipants are free to sign for the individual week modules, where basic notions about the techniques used will be provided, or the full course. The program has a theoretical framework, while the major focus is a hands-on approach, "learn by doing".
