This week-long course gives you a chance to get in-depth understanding about current threats the Eastern flank of Europe faces and the counter-measures it applies to deter aggressors and defend both - regional and national - security interests.

Target group

Vilnius Summer School invites experts and scientists to share their knowledge and experience in the field of military security with students and any other persons from abroad who might be interested in military security issues.

Course aim

The course of Vilnius Summer School 2019 on military security aims to discuss the Russian foreign, security and defence policy and to analyze the capabilities of Russian military. The course will focus on the security situation in the Baltic region, giving a particular attention to the transformation of Russian military and its impact on the security and defence policy of the Baltic States. Moreover, in this course participants will be able to get understanding on the challenges NATO faces today and what NATO must do to counter them, what NATO and national strategies and capabilities must be in place to increase deterrence and defence in the Baltic region.

EUR 450: Tuition fee with accommodation: 800 Eur

Tuition fee with accommodation includes complete course reading materials, accommodation and two meals per day (breakfast and lunch), student’s handbook, maps, field-trips, and cultural and special events. Students are responsible for their own travel costs, dinners and other personal expenses.

Should you prefer to arrange accommodation yourself: 450 Eur

The final deadline for receiving payments is 15 June 2019.

Scholarships

In order to guarantee their participation in Vilnius Summer School, students can also turn to their home institutions or local funding authorities. Most universities have scholarship funds to cover short summer courses connected to the student's fields of
