“USAMV BUCHAREST AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND POLICY SUMMER SCHOOL" extends beyond the initial lifespan of the ENHANCE project and the four members (USAMVB- Romania, AGROSCOPE- Switzerland, BOKU- Austria, IAMO- Germany) continue their collaboration. The organizers invite highly motivated postgraduate students (Master or PhD), researchers with agro-economics background and young professionals from governmental institutions, to the fourth Summer School on the highly topical subject of “Policy Evaluation in Agriculture”.

Course leader

The course is held by Dr. Dr. Stefan Mann, Prof. Dr. Jochen Kantelhardt and Prof. Dr. Gina Fîntîneru. All three supervisors have contributed to frontier research in policy evaluation and have extensive expertise in teaching and applying policy evaluation.

Target group

Postgraduate students (Masters or PhD students) with agro-economics background.
Young researchers with an educational background in economics, management, marketing or other social sciences disciplines applied to agriculture.
Young professionals from governmental institutions, regional organizations related to agriculture (ministries, authorities and agencies) who need a refresher course.

Course aim

The fourth USAMV BUCHAREST AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND POLICY SUMMER SCHOOL will take place from 9-14 September 2019. Considering the high number of applications on this topic in the past, the six-day event will again focus on “Policy Evaluation in Agriculture”. The course will start with the normative foundations of policy evaluation, will cover methodological tasks and finally dive into a case study. Students are going to work on a concept for policy evaluation themselves and have the opportunity to participate in various excursions that illustrate the everyday business of policy evaluation, but also the wealth of Romanian rural culture.

EUR 345: The course fee includes:
- 5 days of courses with both foreign and Romanian lecturers (Monday-Friday)
- 5x breakfast, lunch, and coffee break (Monday-Friday)
- numerous extra-curricular activities: Campus visit, visit to the Village Museum, visit to the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Bucharest tour, Closing Ceremony, Cultural night and Saturday trip to Pietroasa Viticulture and Enology Research and Development Station (100 km away from Bucharest)
EUR 107: 7 nights of accommodation in DOUBLE (Eur 107) or SINGLE (Eur 167) rooms in the newest hostel/hotel within the USAMVB campus
