The course will cover a rigorous introduction to the theory and practice of econometric model selection, model averaging, and related methods. The goal is to introduce students to a range of tools which can be used in applied econometrics, to provide the theoretical foundation to understand how to use these tools, and to introduce the theory for students interested in pursuing methodological research.

Target group

Our Summer School is a very diverse programme, attracting a range of people from over 24 different countries since 2006. The majority of participants are currently studying at graduate and postgraduate levels, alongside a number of professionals from a range of business sector

Course aim

The broader objective of this series of events is to provide advanced training for young researchers from all over Europe and beyond on important disciplines of economics and econometrics.

All students will be provided with a certificate of attendance signed by the Distinguished Professor and the ASSEE Academic Director that include their name and affiliation after the programme has finished.
ASSEE is equivalent to one course from a graduate degree. Generally, our policy is that students participating in the summer school and successfully completing the practical labs can earn 4 ECTS credits. Participants should check with their home institution how the certificate will be issued.

Fee info

EUR 1500: ASSEE tuition fees include:

Accommodation for seven (7) nights (from Sunday to Saturday) including breakfast,
Two (2) coffee breaks during classes from Monday to Friday,
Daily lunch at the University Restaurant from Monday to Friday,
A welcome reception on Monday evening,
A farewell dinner in a local tavern on Friday evening,
An excursion to Plakias on Wednesday afternoon
An excursion to the Minoan Palace of Eleftherna and Archaeological Museum on Saturday morning,
All teaching materials (i.e., class notes, program codes) provided by the instructor.
EUR 250: Accompanying persons have an extra cost of 250 € that includes all ASSEE activities except of morning lectures and computer practicum.

Scholarships

Unfortunately no scholarships are available from the organizing institution for participation in the summer school. Candidates should look for funding from their own institutions.
