Logistics represent very important activity nowadays. Important part of the logistics science represents internal and warehouse logistics called as Intralogistics. Today many industrial trends like Industrial Internet Consortium, Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition, European Factories of the Future Research Association, Industry 4.0 and Made in China 2025 describe how the production of the future along with the intralogistics should looks like.
If we focus ourselves to Intralogistics 4.0 as part of the fourth industrial revolution, there are many reasons why this trend is essential for today’s industry. The first one is the complexity of the supply chain since the increased globalization and the high degree of interconnected logistics networks. Next is the complexity of the data due to information overload in supply chain, production and intralogistics, which is growing disproportionately high. Complexity of products, where demand for individuality is growing, therefore “batch size one” is getting a reality nowadays. Complexity through interaction, where participation in virtual life is increasing due to more open systems and interconnectedness of the supply chain.
Intralogistics 4.0 is thus following the industrial trend Industry 4.0 by implementing several technical and technological solutions, which will be in more detail introduced during the proposed course Intralogistics and warehousing 4.0.
