This summer course will take place from 01 to 12 July and it is the main goal of this course to study the history of the urban evolution of Barcelona through the perspective and analysis of great architects and engineers, plans, works, cultural landscape, services, infrastructure , gastronomy, hospitality. The thread that goes through all the specific subjects from urban planning area is the idea of sustainability, seeking to understand the new trends and needs of the city and region.

Course leader

This course is the result of a partnership and cooperation between the IAT - Ambiente Total Institute and the UPC - Polytechnic University of Catalonia, that has been developed since 1997.

Target group

Architects, engineers, and urban planners and also students from all of these areas

Course aim

The main aim of this course is to think about new trends in sustainable practices and actions through the analysis of the development of Barcelona, as a city that is always concerned with an holistic approach of urban planning, architecture and even tourism.

EUR 1790: The fee includes the course, field trips, and housing, in a shared apartment with maximum of 3 students.
