The ability to use English language is getting more and more important not only for university students. Would you like to improve your communication and study skills in English in order to successfully pass your university studies? The English for University course is ideal for pre-university and university students who need to improve their English language skills in order to meet their university language requirements. The aim of the course is to develop basic academic and study skills in English to achieve at least the level considered to be sufficient for university studies. Specifically, the classes focus on developing abilities to read academic texts and use them in writing and speaking, critical listening to lectures while taking effective notes, speaking in academic contexts and gaining insight into the basic principles of writing academic texts. The sessions will also focus on English grammar and vocabulary as used in the academic environment.

Course aim

This course falls under Masaryk University's 'Intensive Summer School'. Students will study their classes in the morning and in the afternoon be free to participate in social and cultural activities arranged in and around Brno.
