FinTech
Financial technology, often shortened to FinTech, is an umbrella term for innovative technology in the financial sector. This summer course focuses on two disruptive technologies: blockchain and machine learning. It provides you with both the theoretical foundations as well as with hands-on experience. Overall, it will be a pleasant mix of understanding the technologies and discussing the new possibilities that it has to offer the financial sector.
Financial technology, often shortened to FinTech, is an umbrella term for innovative technology in the financial sector. This summer course focuses on two disruptive technologies: Blockchain and Machine Learning. Blockchain stimulates people to create ecosystems without a trusted third party and thus revolutionizes the way organizations work. Machine Learning applications are increasingly developed. Examples in the financial sector include the prediction of the stock market, fraud detection and chatbots. This summer course provides you with both the theoretical foundations as well as hands-on experience. Overall, it will be a pleasant mix of understanding the technologies and discuss the new possibilities that it has to offer to the financial sector.
Students will learn how data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence impact day-to-day life and how this new-found ability of using data for smart applications has transformed and upended many businesses: from image recognition, to fraud detection, to smart assistants all the way to self-landing rockets and self-driving cars. You will learn how it impacts the FinTech industry and will work with it yourselves ("get your hands dirty wrangling some data").
Students will learn what Blockchain exactly is, how it works and what it could mean to daily life and (managers in) companies. We will cover ALL aspects of a working blockchain, including governance, legal, change management and costs.
We are currenlty planning on teaching this course in a physical setting. If this changes we will inform you via this page and via email.
