Food and drink manufacturing is a fast moving and dynamic industry with excellent opportunities for career development in a range of technical and scientific roles.

Here at NTU we have a long history of delivering high quality food science and technology programmes and we have used this experience to design this innovative Summer School programme.

The content of the course is built around the development of a new food product. Within this theme you will study food safety, manufacturing and technology as well as the key stages of new product development. You will also the opportunity to achieve a food safety qualification that is accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health.

As well as lectures, laboratory sessions and practical workshops carried out in our specialist food processing lab you will also have an opportunity to visit UK food businesses.

Target group

To participate, you should have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in food science or a related subject and have the required English language skills.

Course aim

After studying this module you should be able to:
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key steps in the development and manufacture of a new food product
• Demonstrate understanding of food safety hazards and describe food safety control methods

GBP 1400: An early-bird tuition fee discount of 10% is available for all students who apply and pay by 31st March 2021. Apply for two courses (4 weeks) and receive a 20% tuition fee discount off your second course!
GBP 370: On-campus accommodation for two-weeks in a single room with ensuite facilities and shared kitchen and living space (price to be confirmed). For off-campus accommodation (10 minute walk) the price is £290 for two-weeks - as above rooms are single, ensuite with shared kitchen and living spaces. Both have 24 hour security.
