Gamification in Forecasting and Data Analytics Education
online courseThis course will present the basic principles about the understanding and application of data analytics and time series forecasting methods. Additionally, an overview of the state-of-the art in predictive analytics will be presented along with the contribution of gamification in this field. The aim of the course is to teach basic statistics, the basic steps of the forecasting methodology (Makridakis et. al. 2008), forecasting time series models and the evaluation of forecasting methods. Additionally, participants will be able to basically use the statistical programming language R in order to analyse, visualize their data and produce forecasts with basic forecasting models and participate in gamified educational application relevant to the topic.
Target group
University students and graduates from around the world.
Course aim
Participants, having participated into a gamified course be able to:
-Insert and analyse data, using the open source statistical programming language R.
-Identify time series components.
-Have a general knowledge about forecasting methodology.
-Produce forecasts using exponential smoothing models.
-Evaluate their models.
-Experience in using a simple gamified application in the topic of statistical literacy.
