Architecture & Champagne
Due to the covid-19 outbreak, this course has been postponed to 2021.
The Champagne Region, the Châlons-en-Champagne Urban Area, in partnership with the Maison de l'Architecture Champagne-Ardenne, organizes each year in July a Summer school.
"Architecture & Champagne", open for initial or continuing training, constitutes a learning space in architecture, in a transdisciplinary approach, and generates concrete installations for municipalities and winegrowers who wish to strengthen their attractiveness.
The participants (students, executive architects, construction professionals) are immersed for 12 days in Châlons-en-Champagne in design and manufacturing workshops that invite them to imagine contemporary vine boxes.
Course leader
Elise Camus is the director of the summerschool. 5 architects supervise the 6 groups of students for the design and manufacture of the boxes.
Target group
Students of schools of European architecture, but also all types of disciplines related to vineyards (oenology, landscapes, tourism, etc.)
Course aim
After 3 days of co-design of a lodge (hut of vine), from an order a winemaker, you build
a architectural object designed to enhance the wine landscape.
The challenge: understanding wine tourism issues and proposing contemporary solutions
in a UNESCO listed territory. In a summer and friendly atmosphere, live, think, create and
build together. The 12 days are punctuated by master classes, introductions to tasting, visits.
