The Art of Public Speaking

The course is designed to equip people, who are required to use English regularly, either in a form of presentation, public speaking, or training, with tools and skills needed for successful delivery.

The purpose of the course is to improve self-confidence through a series of activities and exercises. The course aims at:

Improving pronunciation
Improving Presentation skills
Understanding the importance of Elocution (the skill of clear and expressive speech, especially of distinct pronunciation and articulation) in public speaking

Dealing with multicultural audience
Basics of Intercultural Communication
Emotional Intelligence

The art of public speaking (How to deliver your message in order to inform, persuade or entertain your audience)

Presentation skills (overcoming stage fright, shyness etc.)

Engaging your audience (asking and answering questions, eliciting responses from your audience)

Explaining difficult concepts

EUR 315: Course fee for students external to Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
EUR 0: Courses are free of charge to degree students and exchange students (academic year 2021-2022) of Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
