The course framework is created of approaches to explore and define music as a life-long human phenomenon despite of the culture in question: musical experiences create an orientation for life from the prenatal phase to the elderly days. Music is being observed as interaction, and as a ground for education, wellbeing, and learning.

During the course, aspects and observations for music and music integration are created, grounded on research-based learning tasks. Detailed connections to practical examples and tasks will help the learner to adopt the music philosophy with value-based orientation to foster teaching through musical communication and learn about the benefiting of music pedagogical models at the working life practices.

University students and graduates from around the world.

Course aim

Student's inner motivation for learning about musical phenomenon (the ontology and etymology of music) and the possibilities of using music in teaching and learning in all subjects will be strengthened. The comprehension of music in everyday lives, within the connected world in diverse cultures, will be presented as an innate resource to inspire pedagogues and RDI orientations.

The students will be encouraged to connect philosophy and theory of human development with one’s didactical and pedagogical reflection in teaching. From this perspective, music will be comprehended as a core for human society and culture, to create a core for learning processes.

EUR 525: Course fee for students external to Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
EUR 0: Courses are free of charge to degree students and exchange students (academic year 2021-2022) of Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
