The summer school focusing on municipal engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Brno University of Technology (FCE, BUT) perfectly combines theory and practice, studying and fun. You will participate in professional lectures, practical measurements, excursions, team work on projects, social activities. Based on specific examples, you will learn about urban planning, its development and its future. You will learn about city transport modelling, about green vegetation in cities or about using rain water. You will gain information about sustainable buildings in relation to city planning. The practical excursions will include for example the Tugendhat Villa, the future smart town part of Špitálka, water management laboratories, the Brno reservoir, the developing town part called Jižní čtvrť and others. Your task will be to produce a schematic design of a town part at a selected brownfield site in Brno. It must be based on the principle of sustainable development with the lowest possible CO2 footprint.

A walk around Brno with comments on history and urban planning with reference to the morning block
