We invite all participants to attend an academically demanding and wide-ranging program. Experience the inspiring atmosphere of an international summer course!

This year's summer course will deal with:

- European Integration: Goals and political priorities of the EU
- Institutional set-up and legislation of the EU
- EU’s Single Market and the Four Freedoms
- Foreign Policy: External action of the EU
- International Trade: EU trade policy and the World Trading System
- Protection of Human Rights: Freedom of expression vs. public interest
- Digitalization: Data Protection vs. Health Protection
- EU as a global actor

You will meet renowned international experts in European law, politics and economics. The lecturers are academics or practitioners and will give you an inside view of the EU. Various teaching methods will be used, including: lectures and discussions as well as professionally designed workshops and simulations.

The European Summer Course is designed as an online course, a combination of daily live Zoom sessions (2 p.m. to 6 p.m., CET) and an e-learning tool (Moodle) where a wide range of reading material and videos will be provided for individual preparation and follow-up.

Target group

Young, active and open-minded people (esp. Bachelor-, Master- and PhD- students / young professionals) with a strong interest in the European Union and its current challenges are invited from all fields of study and from all over the world.

Course aim

2021: The EU member states are currently facing a multitude of new challenges and have to prove their strength as a future-oriented network, especially in times of a global pandemic.

#EUChallengeAccepted: Tackle the Challenges for the European Union! deals with the current goals and political priorities of the European Union in terms of the EU’s single market and the world trade system in times of crisis, and discusses current human rights protection issues and their challenges in light of the freedom of expression vs. public interest and its impact on health protection in the context of data protection.

EUR 100: Due to the generous support of the "German federal Kinder und Jugendplan" as well as the "Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung", we are able to offer a highly reduced participation fee of 100 Euro.
