Do you know about greenhouses? Do you want to know more about how to maximize the positive environmental impact of greenhouse cultivation? Have you ever visited a commercial protected horticulture facility? The University of Almeria (UAL) has more than 25 years of experience in protected horticulture, especially in soilless and hydroponic growing systems, as well as in fertigation and sustainable production with zero waste. It is a worldwide reference in clean and environmentally friendly agricultural systems, and leads international projects in protected horticulture agroecosystems.

Course aim

1. Training senior technicians capable of facing the most modern challenges in the field of protected horticulture, and especially in soilless and hydroponic cultivation.

2. Trainning professionals in the sector to adequately face problems of climatic control, fertigation and minimum contamination, while maintaining maximum respect for the environment.

3. Learning strategies and techniques to make the protected horticulture agro-ecosystem as competitive as possible.

4. Learning and using commercial climate control and fertigation softwares.

5. Visiting commercial installations of protected horticulture in the Mediterranean slope.
