Sport in Health and Disease from Exercise Physiologist's Perspective
Exercise is an important element in the prevention and treatment of disease. In this course you will learn how your muscles contract to create movement during exercise, how the heart pumps blood to all parts of your body to deliver enough oxygen for the muscles to work and how the body adapts to aerobic, anaerobic or resistance exercise. These and many other topics related with sport physiology in relation with health and disease will be addressed.

Everyone who sees exercise as an important element in the prevention and treatment of disease, and want to motivate people to practice healthy behaviors is welcome in this course. You should have basic knowledge in human biology or physiology at undergraduate university level.
Course aim
After this course you are able to:
- Conduct and interpret physical fitness assessments.
- Understand how human body responds to exercise.
- Measure and interpret basic indicators of exercise fitness including HRV.
- Use cardiopulmonary exercise testing as a tool to determine cardiopulmonary health.
Fee info
EUR 600: The fee includes the registration fees, course materials, access to library and IT facilities, coffee/tea, lunch, and a number of social activities.
