Focusing on psychological aspects of intercultural competencies, this course fosters the understanding from both theoretical and practical perspectives. At first you will gain a general overview of different perspectives on culture and their implications, followed by an intercultural training. Finally, you will design your own workshop concept for intercultural competencies. Additionally, all Summer Schools students will take part in a German taster course.

Target group

Undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world in fields related to those covered by the course - eg. Psychology, Economics, Business Administration and Educational Sciences - are welcome to apply. Since the course is taught in English, a level of B2 (according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required. No previous knowledge of German is required. Participants must be over the age of 18.

Course aim

The major goal of the course is to broaden the knowledge of how intercultural competencies are conceptualized and how they can be developed systematically.

EUR 1500: The program fee of 1500 € includes the course fee, accommodation, the entire cultural and recreational program, free public transportation within the city of Osnabrück and a discount for using Osnabrück University’s cafeterias. In addition to the course you will be able to take part in a rich cultural program: visit of sights in Osnabrück, excursions to Bremen and Berlin, a mudflat hiking tour on the shores of the North Sea, sports and much more!
