Architecture, Between the Sea and the Sky

when 14 July 2014 - 9 August 2014
duration 4 weeks
credits 2 EC
fee EUR 450

From July 14 to August 9 2014, we will be holding a special summer camp. A month-long affair starting (online) on July 14 and then moving to offline fun from August 4 to August 9. Indeed, in the ancient Sicilian city of Syracuse, old and new friends will be meeting and coming together for an ambitious project: the building of our very own architecture.

We will make architecture, hence we will make space.
A very special space: between the land and the sea, but at the same time between the sea and the sky. Let’s say: between the land and the sea. Below the sky.

Architecture as a tool to convert a place into a state of mind.

Course leader

Stefano Mirti, Francesco Librizzi

Course aim

The summer camp will explore the theme of space perception through the senses. For this, we will start making things, physical things... experiments that we will iterate many, many times.

The objective of the camp is to investigate the idea of craft. As the three-month Design 101 course was about learning by doing things, the summer camp will be about how do we carry out the making of these things. In other words, how do we craft architecture.
