This course is about environment and sustainable development in Northern Portugal, one of the most populated European regions, especially focused in the city of Porto and Douro, both UNESCO’s Heritage Sites.
Participants will attend classes and communications by faculties, public authority and company managers, and they will have the chance of visiting energy utilities, wine production infrastrutures and extraordinary heritage locations.
The programme also includes privileged access to institutions that are usually closed to the general public, namely EDP - Energias de Portugal and the IVDP - Institute of Port and Douro Wines. The programme adds a cruise on the Douro river, voted as the best European river destination in 2014.

Professionals, academics and students in the fields of environment and sustainable development, with particular interests in energy, tourism, wine and regional development.

Course aim

The objective is to describe and understand how the region is coping with environmental challenges whilst effectively exploring available resources and industries, such as energy, tourism, and wine.

EUR 1950: Price includes 11 nights (7 nights in Porto and 4 nights in the Régua), meals, transport and visits mentioned in program, and the cruise on Douro river.
