The Summer School of Data Analysis and Business Forecasting is a project of the Department of Statistics and Econometrics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, which is accredited by AACSB International.

It is a really interesting offer combining intensive, high-quality teaching and an exciting sightseeing and fun activities.

This year a team headed up by Professor Mariola Pilatowska, specializing in econometrics and statistics, has prepared for you an outstanding course in Sales Forecasting.

An appropriate forecasting system is one of the key elements of the successful business. Without a crystal ball, it can be difficult to predict the future. Thus, building proper forecasting models is essential for the company. If you want to get it right, join this course.

The course is designed to provide you with knowledge and skills related to using various forecasting models and techniques in order to generate and implement business forecasts. It will focus on the practical applications of statistical methods that are widespread in enterprises operating in the industry, construction, trade and market services sectors, where sales forecasts are indispensable to prepare. Therefore, the course is conducted in cooperation with business practitioners to get you acquainted with a forecasting system used in a real company.

Part of the course consists of a unique opportunity to utilize Predictive Analytics – forecasting software developed by SAP SE – an international business IT company, the world leader in enterprise applications in terms of software and software-related service revenue.

Target group

This course is designed for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for postgraduates and professionals interested in acquiring or enriching their knowledge related to practical applications of business forecasting methods and tools, which is an issue of paramount importance for each enterprise.

Attendees must be aged 18+ at the time of the Summer School.

Although emphasis is placed on the practical use of forecasting methods, mainly on solving problems with different available datasets, rather than on the underlying mathematics, attendees should not be surprised by seeing some formulas. However, lecturers will make the course content accessible to students from a wide range of educational backgrounds.

Course aim

The main aims of this course are to provide students with knowledge and skills in the area of using different forecasting tools and methods in order to generate and implement business forecasts, to get them acquainted with a forecasting system in a company and its role in the management of an organization, and in such a way to improve their ability to make appropriate decisions related to company's activity and its environment.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Those who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Graduation.
