Gourmet Architecture - An Initiation into Restaurant Design

Starting with a guided exploration of Madrid’s vast culinary landscape, with its more than 3,000 restaurants, you will analyze what it takes to design a successful restaurant. You will then put your learning into practice on real-world projects, under the guidance of leading professionals.
The students will apply what they have learnt during the first week to designing a restaurant. The professors will propose a real situation for which the students will have to undertake a preliminary design project. The project will be carried out in the workshops, and will be accompanied by visits to restaurants and buildings in Madrid dedicated to the restaurant industry.

Target group

This course is addressed to students who are already in an architecture/design program, and who wish to deepen their knowledge of culinary building environments with the goal of designing successful restaurants and leisure spaces.

Course aim

In the Summer Course – Architecture II - An initiation into restaurant design, you’ll explore the design of successful restaurants, deepening your understanding of the key aesthetic, functional, and operational aspects of leisure space design.
