Programming in Java

This course is designed for those who want to look into the field of computer science. Working at the computer, participants will learn basic knowledge of computer programming and how to write computer programs themselves using the programming language Java. Assignments will give more understanding of the programming concepts and field trips will enhance knowledge of the history and applications of programming, in the setting of Berlin.
Topics like variables, loops, objects, input and output, user interfaces, collections, sorting, concurrent programming and event-driven programming will be covered.

Target group
The target group includes current university students who have completed at least one year of their studies (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD level). Working professionals with equivalent work experience are also welcome to apply.
Course aim
This course is designed for students who want to look into the field of computer science or who want to start programming. After this course, participants will be able to understand basic concepts of writing a computer program with Java.

5 EC
5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) for the academic course.
Fee info
EUR 1950: The course fee covers our cultural programme, which features visits to museums (entry tickets covered), guided walking tours of Berlin, a sightseeing boat tour, a visit to the German Parliament (Bundestag), and a trip to the city of Potsdam. Day trips to Dresden or Leipzig will be subject to additional costs and will not be covered by the course fee.
EUR 0: The fee covers public transportation for the duration of the course, excursions, course materials, and a cultural program.
