This course will teach you how to research and write features for the magazine industry, and insights into how to get your work seen by the right people.

You’ll study magazine layouts and formats and learn how to apply pictures, colours and headlines effectively.

You’ll gain an appreciation for the different styles of writing that editors are looking for, learn how to interview effectively, and how to write in different styles for different markets.

This course is ideal for writers or journalists looking to build their design skills, as well as creative thinkers looking to expand their writing style for publishing.

Course leader

This course will be taught by tutors from NTU's award-winning Centre for Broadcast and Journalism.

Target group

You should have an interest in news at a local and national level.

Course aim

By the end of the course, you’ll have an excellent knowledge of magazine journalism techniques, and an understanding of the different writing styles for different applications.

You’ll have also gained an understanding of the journalism industry today.

You will have also gained an understanding of the journalism industry in the UK, and be able to plan, design and execute research.

GBP 395: This fee covers the course delivery, most materials and any related course travel and entry tickets.
GBP 190: On-campus accommodation for one week in a single room with private bathroom facilities and shared kitchen and living space.
