About

The best professors combined with real executive challenges from Rotterdam’s most innovative businesses, in fully accredited Erasmus University summer schools. Together with Jungle Gym Learning, a leading Dutch company and RHV (Erasmus School of Economics: Research, Institute for Urban, Port and Transport Economics), you will conduct research on and develop strategies for Resilient Delta Cities. Besides the academic and professional activities mentioned above, an extensive social program is included.

Delta cities are the engine of our global economy. But increasingly delta cities face all kinds of water related challenges. Think of water shortages caused by changing weather, the problem of too much water caused by flooding and storms and the problem of polluted drinking water. Living with water instead of fighting it, is really about a cultural change. Thinking likewise, water is not a threat but an asset. As Henk Ovink, Dutch Special Envoy for International Water Affairs, puts it: “Build a better region, and with that better region, strengthen ecology, strengthen economy and strengthen culture”.

Resilience is about being prepared and about being able to deal with uncertainty. Summer School “Resilient Delta Cities” is aimed at building social and physical resilience in Rotterdam, based on true understanding, inclusive collaboration and design driven innovation.

Target group

The course is open to students with a completed Bachelor degree, Master students, PhD candidates and young professionals (0-5 years of working experience) with an interest in innovation, strategy, branding, regional economics and urban development.
